IBIZA – The Consell de Ibiza has employed twelve people at the ITV centre as part of emergency plan that will now see 400 car inspections per day.
Appointments at the island’s only MOT centre (ITV) are currently on a waiting list of seven months leading the incoming administration at the Consell de Ibiza to implement an emergency plan that will see seven mechanics, four administrative assistants and one engineer added to the staff. Vice President and Regional Interior Minister, Marta Diaz, said the council was still evaluating the possibility of employing two additional engineers.
The emergency plan, which will cost around 130,000 euros to implement, should allow a 30% increase in the number of vehicles inspected each day. Currently between 250 and 280 daily vehicle inspections are made at the ITV centre close to Santa Gertrudis but this is expected to increase to between 350 and 400 cars with the arrival of new staff.
The new staff are expected to begin work at the ITV centre next week.
