New production of Verdi’s opera ‘Il trovatore’ by the Liceu is broadcast live in Sant Antoni

The residents and visitors of Sant Antoni will be able to enjoy the broadcasting of ‘Il Trovatore’ by Verdi, this Friday at 22:00 in the church square (Plaça de s’Església) for free! A nice way to spend the evening.

In the third edition of the ‘Liceu a la Fresca’ project, the representation of this piece can be seen in Sant Antoni and in 165 other municipalities in Spain.

The cast of this production is headed by the baritone George Petean, as Count di Luna; the soprano Tamara Wilson as Leonora and the tenor Piero Pretti as Manrico, all under the baton of Daniele Callegari.

‘Il trovatore’ places the spectator in Zaragoza to witness the infatuation between the troubadour Manrico and the beautiful Leonora. Count di Luna, who also wants the girl, lost his younger brother after he was kidnapped by Manrico’s mother, Azucena. The Count captures and tortures Manrico’s mother, giving birth to a tragedy in which death has a big role.

The staging by Joan Anton Rechi is inspired by Francisco Goya’s “Disasters of War”, which in the skin of Carles Canut will become a spectator of exception of the tragic history.
