Ibiza is stepping up its efforts to enhance the experience for travellers and combat illegal transport on the island. The Consell de Ibiza has launched an updated website for public transport, offering improved navigation, interactive maps for bus routes, real-time tracking, and easier access to bus and stop information. This initiative is part of a broader modernisation push aiming to make public transport more accessible and efficient. Remarkably, the island saw over a million public transport users in June, reflecting a 16.1% increase from the previous year and indicating a positive shift towards sustainable travel among residents and visitors alike.
At Ibiza Airport, new visual aids help guide passengers to official bus and taxi services, marked by a 'Verified Transport Seal' for peace of mind. This seal signifies adherence to regulations and additional quality and safety pledges. Mariano Juan, the first vice president and transport councillor, emphasised these steps in simplifying public transport and tackling illegal services. Meanwhile, Roberto Algaba highlighted the Consell's commitment to ensuring visitors can travel with confidence, using verified and quality services. This strategy not only aids in recognising secure operators but also elevates those dedicated to top-tier service standards.
