José Luis Benítez, a key figure in Ibiza's nightlife scene, has been honoured as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III. This recognition highlights his efforts in making Ibiza a safer haven for British tourists through promoting safety measures against harassment and other risks in the island's nightlife. As the president of Spain Nightlife and holding a pivotal role at Palladium Hotel Group, Benítez has championed worker training and bolstered security measures. British ambassador to Spain, Alex Ellis, praised Benítez's dedication to creating a safer environment for the millions of British travellers drawn to Ibiza's sun-drenched shores. Sharing the accolade, Benítez extends the appreciation to all front-line workers in bars, clubs, and hotels. Also honoured for his contributions to tourism and safety is Gabriel Escarrer of Meliá Hotels, known for backing initiatives like the 'Stick With Your Mates' campaign and significant investments in the UK. These acknowledgements underline ongoing efforts to ensure that holidaymakers from the UK enjoy their Ibiza experience safely.
