Autumn Chill Settles Over Ibiza and Formentera: Cooler Days Ahead

Autumn Chill Settles Over Ibiza and Formentera: Cooler Days Ahead

The sizzling early October heatwave has finally eased in Ibiza and Formentera, paving the way for a more autumnal feel. The change became noticeable on Friday, when temperatures dropped significantly despite the sun shining brightly over the Pitiusas. According to AEMET, the Spanish Met Office, Sant Antoni experienced lows of 13 degrees, while Vila and Sant Joan recorded a cool 14 degrees. The airport wasn't much warmer either, hitting a low of 15 degrees, with Formentera slightly milder at 18 degrees.

Forecasts suggest this brisk weather will continue into the weekend, with morning and evening chills predicted, as temperatures stay below 15 degrees. However, daytime highs will hover closer to 20 degrees. There's a slight reprieve expected next week, with highs potentially reaching 27 degrees, though early and late in the day will remain fresh, preserving that crisp autumn vibe. So, if you're out late or up with the sunrise, it might be time to pack an extra layer to enjoy Ibiza's beaches and beat-driven nights with comfort.

Ibiza’s End-of-Season Closing Parties: A Last Summer Surge

As another vibrant summer season nears its end, Ibiza and neighbouring Formentera prepare for the highly anticipated closing parties, events that have seamlessly integrated into the island's summer rhythm. This weekend, the area of Sant Josep will be at the heart of these celebrations, signalling the official goodbye to the island's clubbing-obsessed summer scene. Despite the buildup, local authorities, like Chief José Antonio Granados of Sant Josep's Police, describe these events as routine, comparable to any vibrant day in August. While the spectacle of these gatherings has somewhat streamlined over the years, the police force will maintain its usual heightened summer-level vigilance. This adjustment reflects how deeply embedded these closings are within the island's calendar. Reflecting on the broader summer, it's been a memorable period with familiar peaks in July and August, although the police also dealt with unique challenges such as unauthorised property occupations, adding a new layer to their responsibilities this season.
