In a dramatic development that could intrigue the curiosity of tourists, the Balearic Islands Port Authority has begun the complex operation to recover a yacht that caught fire and sank near Ibiza's port. Initially planned for a later date, the effort to lift the yacht has been expedited, bringing it to just ten metres below the ocean's surface at Botafoc dock. Scheduled for completion by Friday, the operation will allow post-recovery clean-up and analysis to commence. With the extraction of 900 litres of pollutants and over 1,650 kilograms of solid waste so far, the intervention underscores a strong commitment to preserving Ibiza's marine environment. The yacht's retrieval will be followed by a thorough investigation aiming to uncover the reasons behind the incident.
