UK holidaymakers in Ibiza and Formentera should prepare for a weekend of wet weather as the island gears up for an intense downpour. Meteorological agency Aemet has issued an orange alert for both islands, warning of potential torrential rain and storms starting early Sunday morning. Expect strong easterly and northeasterly winds, along with a noticeable drop in temperatures, particularly around midday. The alert is set to remain in place from 9:00 am Sunday until 2:00 pm on Monday, with rainfall potentially reaching 160 litres per square metre. As rain began to lash the islands at around 9:30 am Sunday, residents and tourists were advised to take precautionary measures. If indoors, secure your home against water ingress, close windows and doors, and move objects that could be swept away by water or wind. If you need to be outside, exercise extreme caution, avoid driving through flooded areas, and steer clear of low-lying areas prone to water accumulation.
