Looking towards September and October, industry leaders are optimistic about extending the tourist season beyond the typical summer frenzy, focusing on sustainability rather than sheer numbers. Alicia Reina, President of the Balearic branch of the Spanish Association of Hotel Directors, emphasises the importance of quality and value over volume. She argues that while protests against mass tourism have arisen, the real issue lies in how tourism is managed.
Ibiza's government is making strides in sustainable practices, reducing illegal tourist accommodations and limiting vehicle entries, thereby alleviating pressure on the island.
