In an intriguing turn of events, Ibiza and its neighbouring isle, Formentera, have seen a rise in visitors despite a notable dip in arrivals from Italy. The first half of 2026 brought 1,413,470 tourists to the Balearics, marking a 1.79% increase compared to last year. Spaniards were the most numerous, with an impressive 7.11% hike in their numbers, while Brits increased by 1.18%, showing potential to be the top international tourists by year's end. Meanwhile, Dutch visitor figures jumped by a spectacular 19.62%. The island experienced a 13.08% uptick in French tourists, balancing out the sharp decline (15.01%) in Italian arrivals. Meanwhile, the German market regressed slightly with a 10.02% decrease in tourists. Despite mixed figures, there's good news financially, as tourist expenditure soared by 8.36%, resulting directly in 1.525 billion euros. However, with accommodation and travel costs reportedly on the rise, tourism officials remain cautiously optimistic, keeping a keen eye on peak months July and August.
