Majestic Royal Clipper Docks Briefly in Ibiza's Harbour

Majestic Royal Clipper Docks Briefly in Ibiza's Harbour

This Tuesday morning, the glamorous Royal Clipper, known as one of the largest sailing ships in the world, arrived at the picturesque Ibiza harbour. Originating from Maó, this luxurious cruise ship, with its five towering masts and an impressive length of 134 metres, can accommodate up to 227 passengers. Star Clippers, the company behind the Royal Clipper, was founded in 1991 to offer a tasteful alternative to conventional cruising, drawing inspiration from the historic German vessel, Preussen. Although the Royal Clipper is a sight to behold, it is only stopping in Ibiza for a short stay, scheduled to set sail again at 11 PM, heading towards Motril. Don't miss the chance to witness this floating marvel embracing the spirit of leisurely travels around the Balearics, even if just for a fleeting moment.

Ibiza Braces for a Rainy Turn: Prepare for Wet and Cooler Days Ahead

After a brief pause, the rain is returning to Ibiza and its neighbour, Formentera. This midweek, the islands are under a yellow alert for potential showers and thunderstorms, with the wet conditions starting in the early hours. This alert will stay in place until mid-afternoon, according to Aemet's prediction of overcast skies with possible intense downpours, which could ease into lighter showers as the day advances. This morning saw varied rainfall across the region, with Sant Joan recording 3.4 litres and Sant Antoni 2.7 litres. Alongside the rain, a noticeable dip in temperature is on the horizon. While today's highs hover around a comfortable 26 degrees Celsius, expect a cool slide downwards. By Friday, anticipate lows of 16 degrees and highs of 24, maintaining this cooler spell through the weekend with a slight chance of more rain. Pack accordingly and stay dry!

Ibiza has seen a bus-riding boom, with nearly 6 million travellers hopping on during the sunny stretch from April to September. With new routes, more frequent services, and night buses zipping to the throbbing music venues, getting around Ibiza has never been smoother. Ibiza and Formentera: Leading Spain in Hotel Profitability Despite Fewer Tourists

Ibiza and Formentera: Leading Spain in Hotel Profitability Despite Fewer Tourists

Ibiza and Formentera have concluded the summer of 2026 with the highest revenue per available room amongst Spain's top holiday destinations, despite experiencing a drop in tourist numbers. According to Exceltur's recent report, the average revenue per room (RevPAR) for these islands reached €225.1 from June to August, a 9.5% increase from the same period in 2025. Interestingly, this rise in revenue occurred even though there was a 2.4% decrease in overall demand, with a notable 2.8% drop in foreign visitors. In contrast, the domestic market saw slight growth. This pattern signifies a shift in tourism growth across the islands, focusing more on increasing revenue through sustained high pricing and the renewal of hotel offerings, rather than just boosting visitor numbers. Ibiza and Formentera's strategy of enhancing tourism quality over quantity is setting them apart in the competitive landscape of Spain's summer hotspots. Despite the challenges of fewer tourists, these islands excel by capitalizing on higher-value tourism, ensuring they remain a premium attraction for visitors. However, analysts caution that the future might present hurdles, with risks like rising energy costs and geopolitical uncertainties potentially affecting growth.
