Chiringuito Cala Escondida is setting up shop in this bustling part of the island after being unable to renew its previous spot at es Racó d’en Xic in Platges de Comte. The move comes as the Sant Josep council awarded the kiosk space to Cala Escondida after previous bidding rounds found no takers. This development is sure to be popular among sun-seekers frequenting the end of Platja d’en Bossa near the historic tower des Carregador de Sal. The concession comes at an annual cost of €38,750, a key investment in maintaining the seaside charm that Ibiza's visitors come back for year after year. As anticipation builds, Cala Escondida has been sharing updates on social media, preparing for its much-anticipated reopening later this week.

UK Tourists Among Top Visitors to Ibiza This Summer

Ibiza's airport experienced a remarkable rise in passenger numbers this June, with 60,000 more travellers compared to the same month last year, marking a 3.2% increase. According to detailed traffic reports from Aena, UK tourists made a significant contribution to this growth. The British market accounted for 309,773 passengers, with Manchester leading the charge with 53,087 arrivals, surpassing London Gatwick with 45,516. Other notable British airports bringing sun-seekers to Ibiza include Birmingham and Bristol. Interestingly, while Spanish and Italian visitors showed an upward trend, German visitors decreased by 8% compared to last year. Among other European nations, Belgium saw a notable rise of 10.2%, primarily through Brussels Airport, while France's influx rose by 3.4%, with Marseille showing impressive growth.

Scorching Alert: Record-Breaking Temperatures Sweep Ibiza

Brits planning to bask on the beaches of Ibiza may want to rethink their schedules as temperatures soar on the island. This past Sunday was marked by blistering heat, with the thermal sensation peaking at an astonishing 49 degrees in Sant Joan de Labritja, making it the hottest spot in the Balearics! Other popular destinations suffered similarly sweltering conditions, with Sant Antoni feeling like 44 degrees, Santa Eulària des Riu at 42, and Eivissa not far behind at 38 degrees. Even the often cooler Formentera recorded a steamy 34 degrees. Despite actual temperatures staying slightly lower, the stifling humidity means it felt much hotter—posing a challenge for those venturing outdoors.
