Environmental Recovery in Ibiza Following Yacht Sinking

In Ibiza, a comprehensive clean-up operation is underway to restore the coast following the sinking of a yacht last Friday. Efforts, led by the Sant Josep local council, focus on the area from Xanga to Platja d'en Bossa, including the Es Cavallet zone. A coordinated team comprising the municipal company Ibifor and Sealand, hired by the yacht's insurer, has removed 300 kilos of waste and 900 litres of hazardous liquids from the site. The clean-up includes transporting debris to Botafoc port for examination by authorities and potentially the yacht's owner. Meanwhile, on Playa d'en Bossa, a dedicated team remains on alert to manage any residual debris carried by ocean currents. The yacht's salvage operation is set to begin, aiming for completion by Friday, with specialised divers handling the remaining contaminants.
