Sailing Around Ibiza: Surprisingly Affordable for UK Tourists

Sailing Around Ibiza: Surprisingly Affordable for UK Tourists

Dreaming of a week spent sailing the azure waters of Ibiza doesn't have to be a millionaire's fantasy. A recent insight from Instagram influencer @lacocinadelpirata has put a fresh spotlight on just how feasible this unique experience can be for the average traveller. With costs broken down to £1,300 per person for a week-long adventure, it’s a tempting alternative to more traditional stays in Spain.

The influencer detailed the expenses of a journey aboard a 40-foot Lagoon 400 catamaran, which started from Valencia, took in the beautiful Balearic Islands, and then returned to its point of origin. Chartering the vessel cost them €6,500, while extras such as paddleboards and linens added another €650 to the bill. While employing a skipper could have increased costs by €1,100, this was cleverly avoided as two among the group had the necessary certifications to take the helm.

Fuel expenses came in at €500, crucial for making the most of the island-hopping opportunities between Ibiza's famed beaches and charming coves. A key highlight—or peculiar expense—was the €1,300 splurged on ice, a necessity in the Mediterranean heat, due to the boat’s lack of an ice maker.

Provisions set the group back €2,100 as they stocked up on food and drinks for their getaway, with dining-out costs adding a bit more luxury: €1,100 at Vesovic and €550 at Sol. Despite totaling €11,700, when divided among nine people, it renders the trip more accessible than typical mainland accommodations, positioning a sailing holiday in Ibiza as an alluring choice for adventurous UK tourists eager to experience the Mediterranean from a new perspective.
