Ibiza has launched a new strategy to tackle illegal tourist rentals, reducing the number of units advertised by nearly half. The Consell d'Eivissa announced a 44% drop in such listings on digital platforms from over 4,100 in August 2024 to about 2,300 in May 2026, following collaborations with major players like Airbnb, Booking, and Vrbo. This initiative aims to ensure the island’s resources aren't overstretched and to maintain a fair tourism landscape. Enhancements in monitoring tools and cooperation with digital platforms, along with additional tourism inspectors, have been pivotal in this ongoing campaign, supporting a more sustainable future for the island.
