July saw Ibiza and Formentera maintaining their tourist numbers, welcoming over 711,000 visitors, a slight 0.65% increase from last year. However, it's the spending habits that tell the real story, with tourists splashing out a staggering 1.059 billion euros, marking a 6.4% rise and breaking the 1 billion euro threshold for the first time in a single month during peak season. This spending surge outpaces visitor growth, underscoring the economic boost.
The average tourist spend also climbed to 1,489 euros per trip, up 5.75%, while daily expenditures stayed consistent at around 271 euros. Both international and domestic tourists contributed to this spending increase, with Brits accounting for a daily spend of 224 euros. In contrast, German tourists showcased even higher spending, averaging 293 euros per day.
From January to July, the islands welcomed approximately 2.1 million tourists, with a cumulative tourist spend hitting 2.585 billion euros, reflecting a 7.5% year-on-year rise. Despite steady tourist numbers, longer stays and more overnight bookings—reaching almost 3.9 million nights in July—signal increased island stays averaging 5.3 days and contributing to this financial uplift. International tourism remains robust, particularly from the UK, solidifying its position as a key market for the islands.
