The esteemed Gastronomy Academy of Ibiza and Formentera is taking a bold step to showcase its culinary excellence beyond the Mediterranean. Following a strategic meeting held at the chic Beachouse restaurant, plans were announced to bring the island’s rich culinary repertoire to Brussels. This exciting gastronomic event will be a collaboration with the Belgian Gastronomy Academy and the historic Carlos de Amberes Foundation. Leading the charge are top chefs from Ibiza, aiming to captivate international palates with authentic Ibizan cuisine.
Building on past international successes, such as the gastronomy sessions in Athens, where renowned chefs José Miguel Bonet and Alberto Pacheco wowed audiences, the Academy is firmly positioning Ibiza on the global culinary map. The focus isn't just on seasoned chefs; there's also fresh enthusiasm on the island with 'Los alevines de la Academia'. This new initiative will engage young locals aged 14 to 18, ushering the next generation into the world of gastronomy.
In further exciting developments, the Academy will forge ties with the Madrid Gastronomy Academy in March 2027. This collaboration promises to celebrate and promote the culinary traditions of both regions. Additionally, Pepita Costa, a distinguished figure in hospitality education on the island, has been recognised for her invaluable contributions, becoming an esteemed member of the Academy, as Ibiza seeks to professionalise and innovate its culinary scene to meet the demands of its bustling tourism sector.
