Steady Growth Expected for Ibiza's 2026 Holiday Season

UK holidaymakers eyeing a return to Ibiza will be pleased to hear about the promising outlook for the 2026 tourist season, as noted by the Federación Empresarial Hotelera de Ibiza y Formentera (FEHIF). Survey data covering around 120 tourist hotspots in the Pitiusas indicates a stable demand with more than half forecasting a season similar to last year, while about a third anticipate an improvement. Booking patterns are steady, with some establishments noticing earlier reservations compared to past years. Employment stability is foreseen, with nearly 87% of places maintaining their workforce. However, the sector faces ongoing challenges, such as rising energy costs, housing-access hindrances impacting staffing, international uncertainties, labour expense hikes, and unfair competition. Illegal Parties in Ibiza Under Scrutiny for Disrupting the Island's Glamour

The manager of Ocio de Ibiza, José Luis Benítez, expressed concerns over the ongoing challenge posed by illegal parties on the island, emphasising the need for cooperation rather than political sparring. While government officials claim local authorities and the Guardia Civil work closely, Benítez highlighted the vital role of local police in tackling these unlicensed gatherings. These events not only undermine Ibiza’s reputation but also spark community tensions. José Antonio Llano, who leads the Association of Holiday Rental Homes, clarified that these illicit parties usually occur in non-touristic properties, with minimal issues reported from legal holiday homes. Nonetheless, owners remain vigilant, as any gatherings that disrupt neighbours could lead to contractual consequences. Llano stressed that none in the association wish to be embroiled in such disputes, advocating for tighter regulations to grant local police more authority over residential checks. The challenge lies with the current legal framework that limits officers' access to dwellings, allowing these underground parties to persist unchecked.
