Massive Clean-Up Effort in Ibiza Collects 1.5 Tons of Rubbish

In an impressive display of community spirit and environmental dedication, a clean-up initiative in the picturesque areas of sa Talaia and ses Variades in Sant Antoni de Portmany has seen the collection of a staggering 1,500 kilograms of waste. Organised by the Vuelta a Ibiza MTB Siroko by Shimano, and with the backing of the Sant Antoni Town Council, the event aimed to raise environmental awareness and was open to the public. Participants worked throughout the morning, removing large items like mattresses, wheels, scooters, and even a television, making a significant impact on preserving Ibiza's natural beauty. The municipality provided necessary materials, while the UTE Portmany cleaning service handled the collected rubbish. A heartfelt thanks goes to the various associations and local volunteers who took part in this important environmental exercise, demonstrating a commendable commitment to keeping Ibiza beautiful for all.

UK travellers in Ibiza are feeling the pinch at the pump this summer, as petrol and diesel prices soar to their highest levels of the season. The end of reduced VAT rates on 1 July, coupled with rising global oil prices due to Middle East tensions, has led to a steady climb in fuel costs. Petrol now averages 1.765 euros per litre, while diesel hits 1.891 euros per litre on the island. This marks a significant increase from June's prices, with diesel seeing the largest hike at 16 cents more per litre. Motorists will notice a difference of up to 25 cents per litre depending on the station they choose. Despite these hikes, Ibiza still remains under the peak prices seen during the Ormuz Strait crisis. Yet, fuel here is pricier than the national average, costing 12 cents more for petrol and 17 cents more for diesel. Keep this in mind when planning your island adventures.
