Reviving Tradition: Los Gatos of Sant Antoni Welcomes a New Era

Steeped in history and charm, Los Gatos in Sant Antoni has been the meeting spot for locals and those in-the-know for over 80 years. Once a small bodega known as Ca Lacambra, where wine was served by the barrel, this iconic spot is making a comeback. Started by Joaquín Lacambra and his wife in the 1940s, it became a hub for both locals and early adventurers to Ibiza. Fast forward to the present, and the bar has reopened under Rubén Pérez and Martina, preserving its nostalgic essence with offerings that include vermouths, wines, and the potential return of its fabled suisser drink. With a deep-rooted connection to its community, Los Gatos isn't just about sipping fine drinks; it's a dive into the rich tapestry of Ibiza's past and present for any clubbing tourist looking to experience the island beyond the typical party scene.

Ibiza Bids Farewell to Celebrated Chef Marco Dipatrizi

Ibiza's culinary scene mourns the loss of Marco Dipatrizi, the gifted chef behind The Boat House Ibiza. Known for his pioneering fusion dishes, Dipatrizi brought innovation and zest to Ibizan dining. His journey began in Terni, Italy, with an early passion for cooking, sparking a storied career that saw him serve as the executive chef for the Pope at the Vatican. His move to Ibiza in 2010 marked a transformative chapter, blooming into a role at The Boat House in 2017. Fondly remembered for his warmth and creativity, Dipatrizi's legacy endures in the eclectic and beloved menu he crafted. Fans of The Boat House will remember both the unique flavours he curated and the joy he brought to the island's culinary community.

Environmental Efforts in Ibiza: Over 7 Tonnes of Debris Cleared from Shores

As the summer months draw to a close, the waters surrounding Ibiza have undergone an impressive cleanup, with nearly eight tonnes of waste cleared from the island's picturesque shores. This initiative, coordinated by PortsIB and the Department of the Sea and Water Cycle, spanned from May to September. Twenty-three dedicated vessels scoured the seas, focusing on both coastal and beach areas to ensure tourists can enjoy safer and cleaner beaches. Ibiza itself stood out with Sant Josep de sa Talaia seeing the highest debris collection on the island, over five tonnes alone. Meanwhile, plastics and wood dominated the kinds of waste retrieved, highlighting ongoing challenges. Responding to 39 alerts throughout the season, from hazards like drifting ships and occasional fuel spills to assisting stranded marine wildlife, the team worked tirelessly to maintain the island's famed beauty. These critical efforts ensure Ibiza remains a top destination for UK tourists and clubbers, safeguarding the natural allure that keeps drawing them back each year. For those planning their next getaway, it's reassuring to know such measures are in place to protect the island paradise they love.
