Discover the Bohemian Heart of Ibiza at Las Dalias

Discover the Bohemian Heart of Ibiza at Las Dalias

Las Dalias, nestled in the charming village of Sant Carles, stands as a beacon of Ibiza's bohemian soul. Originating as a humble roadside bar in 1954, it has blossomed into a must-see destination for those craving the island's unique spirit. Every week, a fusion of art, music, and gastronomy lures thousands to explore this iconic locale.

Under the stewardship of Juan 'Juanito Dalias' Marí, Las Dalias offers vibrant daytime markets every Saturday, while the enchanting Night Markets take center stage on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays throughout the summer. Featuring over 350 skilled artisans and designers, you'll find an array of treasures from handcrafted jewellery to intricate sculptures.

The allure of Las Dalias extends beyond its eclectic wares. Gaining a stall here remains a coveted achievement among artisans, with a residency only possible when a space becomes available. Handpicked for their innovation and craftsmanship, new exhibitors like Laura Estanyes bring fresh imaginations to this celebrated market. Estanyes, who specializes in woodcut art, sees Las Dalias as both a global showcase and an artistic haven.

This diverse gathering spot also includes veterans like Javi de Naywaj and Puchi from Puchi Tibet Ibiza, who have witnessed the market's growth since its early days. Beyond commerce, these artisans create a familial atmosphere, further enriched by live music, tantalizing eateries, and a community vibe that evokes nostalgia for Ibiza's storied past.

Adding to its rich tapestry, Las Dalias has long been intertwined with the island's musical legacy. While tales swirl of legendary jam sessions under its lush canopies, including an unconfirmed appearance by Bob Marley in 1978, what remains indisputable is the venue's role as a cultural crossroad for artists worldwide.

Today, after over 70 years, Las Dalias continues to evolve, fostering creativity and unity among locals and global visitors alike. It is an ever-evolving testament to Ibiza's enduring, eclectic allure.

Ibiza’s Cala Gracioneta Transforms into Unofficial Party Hub with Nautical Beats

Sunday, September 13th, turned out to be anything but a relaxing day at Cala Gracioneta, Ibiza, as seven boats anchored and cranked up their sound systems, transforming the picturesque beach into an impromptu floating club. Local resident Alfonso was among those left disgruntled by the noisy naval gathering, which he says has become a recurring issue this summer. Alfonso shared that attempts to lower the volume or relocate the boats to less intrusive spots have been met with silence. Despite ongoing complaints lodged with charter companies and authorities including the local police, Guardia Civil, and PortsIB, solutions remain elusive due to jurisdictional and resource challenges. According to Alfonso, this scenario is becoming common across the island, with private operators encroaching on public spaces without facing repercussions.

Young people from various backgrounds flocked to the park to either join the 'aura' battles or watch in awe as participants competed to showcase their charisma and impress the crowd. The concept, inspired by social media and video game lingo, revolves around accumulating an imagined score of 'aura' rather than physical combat. Participants use poses, gestures, and any creative flair to capture the audience's attention and outshine their rivals. This viral phenomenon has already seen success previously in Santa Eulària, where around 200 young people gathered for a similar event. This latest gathering in the heart of Ibiza city highlights the growing interest in such unique public events among the island's youth, further adding to the diverse cultural tapestry Ibiza has to offer.
