A report by the Observatorio de Sostenibilidad de Ibiza & Formentera Preservation revealed that 537,951 cruise passengers arrived on 165 ships, a 36% increase from 2019 figures. This boost indicates larger ships and a need for new regulatory measures to manage the environmental and logistical impact. The summer months witnessed over 75,000 visitors monthly, placing increased pressure on Ibiza's resources as these cruise-goers spend limited hours on the island, intensifying experiences in tourist hotspots. Recommendations include regulating ship size and daily passenger numbers, and enhancing waste management protocols to handle the rising visitor influx more sustainably.
