In a comprehensive safety operation aligned with the commencement of Ibiza's iconic clubbing season, the Guardia Civil executed a focused traffic safety campaign on the island. Spanning from Friday, April 24 to Tuesday, April 28, the initiative aimed to ensure safe travel amidst the bustling influx of party-goers. Enhanced by personnel from both Ibiza and Mallorca, the operation established numerous checkpoints at access points to popular nightlife areas, maintaining 24-hour surveillance. This preventive measure successfully identified and removed 177 drivers impaired by alcohol and drugs, resulting in administrative action. Additionally, 160 separate traffic violations were reported, with a fraction of those resulting in charges for severe safety offences.
