Access Control at Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta: New Measures for Ibiza's Peak Season

Access Control at Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta: New Measures for Ibiza's Peak Season

As summer kicks off in Ibiza, new measures are being implemented to manage the bustling crowds headed to the island’s famed beaches, Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta. Starting from the 1st of May through to the 15th of October, vehicle access to these scenic spots will be carefully controlled daily from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. This initiative aims to ensure safety and maintain orderly access, especially considering the area’s heightened wildfire risks. Special exemptions exist for local residents, taxis, bicycles, and vehicles adapted for those with mobility challenges. In a bid to encourage sustainable transport, visitors can use a convenient public transport service starting from Sant Antoni, or enjoy a scenic boat ride from its harbour. Additionally, a pedestrian path provides a safe and direct route from the parking area to Cala Salada, promoting an eco-friendly approach to beach visits. These controls align with the ongoing commitment to protect these cherished natural environments while offering a seamless visitor experience.

Over 100 Kilos of Rubbish Cleared from Ibiza’s Figueretes Beach in Swift Cleanup Operation

Ibiza’s picturesque Figueretes Beach recently witnessed a speedy cleanup operation that saw over 100 kilos of rubbish cleared from both the shoreline and the waters. This ambitious task was spearheaded by the international conservation group Chelonia in partnership with Ibiza’s council. While Ibiza's beaches usually maintain a decent state, the submerged environments are increasingly showing signs of damage. Volunteer divers, facilitated by Scuba Ibiza, played a critical role in this initiative. They took to the depths to remove tyres, umbrellas, and countless cans and cigarette butts believed to have been tossed overboard by party boats. Such clutter often finds its way into the nearby swimming and navigation channels. The diverse cleanup team also included members from APNEEF, and the collected debris was organized and deposited in containers set up by Valoriza, which performs daily maintenance on Figueretes Beach.

Scheduled to depart at 17:55, flight FR5432 eventually took off at 18:30, arriving on the beloved island late into the night. Passengers described the journey as a relentless party from the moment it began, with flight attendants allegedly encouraging the sale of alcohol by cheekily announcing over the loudspeakers, 'we've opened the bar'. As drinks flowed, passengers reportedly played loud music and vaped, while others voiced concerns about the disruptions. Despite complaints, some found themselves dismissed by the cabin crew with comments about the nature of Ibiza-bound flights. The situation left a few feeling their safety was compromised, especially with minors on board. One frustrated passenger vowed to reconsider flying with Ryanair for Ibiza routes, highlighting recurring issues on these particular flights. As the plane finally landed safely in Ibiza, it concluded a memorable journey for all the wrong reasons, leaving some to second-guess their choice of airline when jetting off for sun-soaked adventures.
