Ibiza's Medieval Fair Braces for Rain - What UK Tourists Need to Know

Ibiza's Medieval Fair Braces for Rain - What UK Tourists Need to Know

This week, Ibiza transforms its historic old town into a medieval marvel for the popular fair that draws visitors from all over Spain. The event often attracts over 68,000 people, hoping for clear skies. However, weather predictions from Aemet suggest rain might play a starring role. The opening day on Thursday could see showers intensifying by afternoon. Friday promises less rain, mostly between noon and evening, with the chance of light, muddy rainfall. Saturday starts with clouds and a few rain spells, clearing up for sunnier moments by afternoon. Sunday, the fair's finale, looks bright and ideal, with temperatures reaching up to 23ºC. UK tourists planning to attend should keep an umbrella handy but can anticipate a sunny end to this remarkable event.

Weather Drama in Ibiza: Storms Cause Mild Chaos But No Major Worries

Weather Drama in Ibiza: Storms Cause Mild Chaos But No Major Worries

After a spell of wild weather put a slight damper on the festive scene, Ibiza is back on the radar with clearer skies ahead. The recent storms across the Balearic Islands, where 15 non-serious incidents occurred in Ibiza and Formentera, are now calming down. While the islands were under an orange alert for showers and thunderstorms, this has now been downgraded to yellow. Reports of fallen trees and minor flooding hit the news, yet the storm's intensity is weakening, with the alert expected to be lifted by Friday evening. Rainfall peaked overnight on Wednesday into Thursday, but Ibiza's famed sun is set to return, ensuring the island remains the ultimate destination for the UK's clubbing enthusiasts eager to bask in its electrifying nightlife and sunny beaches.

Swamped Sands: Platges de Comte Faces Overcrowding Concerns

Swamped Sands: Platges de Comte Faces Overcrowding Concerns

This summer, Ibiza's beloved Platges de Comte experienced overwhelming visitor numbers, nearly tripling its physical capacity. A study by the Observatorio de Sostenibilidad de Ibiza & Formentera Preservation revealed that on 4th August, this picturesque beach saw 1,513 sun-seekers crammed onto its sand, far exceeding its ideal capacity of 537 based on space allocation standards. With the beach spanning just 4,025 square metres, sunbathers had a scant 2.67 square metres each at crowd peaks, much less than the recommended 7.50 square metres. This excess wasn't confined to a single day; the entire week averaged nearly double the beach’s ideal occupancy. In contrast, Santa Eulària's urban beach maintained a comfortable 618 visitors, well within its capacity. These findings have prompted discussions on managing beach access to preserve the natural beauty and enhance visitor experience. Observations of vehicle crowding, too, signal a potential need for parking regulations. Future tracking aims to balance tourism joys with sustainable beach use, funded by the Consell Insular d’Eivissa.
