Ibiza’s picturesque Figueretes Beach recently witnessed a speedy cleanup operation that saw over 100 kilos of rubbish cleared from both the shoreline and the waters. This ambitious task was spearheaded by the international conservation group Chelonia in partnership with Ibiza’s council. While Ibiza's beaches usually maintain a decent state, the submerged environments are increasingly showing signs of damage. Volunteer divers, facilitated by Scuba Ibiza, played a critical role in this initiative. They took to the depths to remove tyres, umbrellas, and countless cans and cigarette butts believed to have been tossed overboard by party boats. Such clutter often finds its way into the nearby swimming and navigation channels. The diverse cleanup team also included members from APNEEF, and the collected debris was organized and deposited in containers set up by Valoriza, which performs daily maintenance on Figueretes Beach.
