Sant Antoni de Portmany is stepping up its game as the summer season approaches, with a significant boost in security to keep the party scene safe for UK tourists. This year, the summer hotspot will see an upgrade from 40 to 119 surveillance cameras placed strategically across 65 locations, in a substantial effort to tighten safety measures. Adding to this, the local police force will welcome 10 new officers, increasing their presence on the streets. This move raises the total to 69 officers, with new recruits already hitting the ground. The community is also enhancing services to tackle issues like the sale of nitrous oxide, aiming to curb its presence despite regulatory hurdles. Meanwhile, maritime safety is also receiving attention, with a new boat set to patrol the waters, targeting illegal charters and safeguarding the coastline's natural beauty. Lastly, improved resources for tourist support offices will further enhance the holiday experience for British visitors. With these measures, tourists can focus on soaking in the sun and nightlife, knowing security is a top priority this season.
